About Me

My name is Maya Hardnett, and I was born in Atlanta, Georgia in March 1997. My journey as an artist began when I was just 14 years old, thanks to the support and encouragement of my family. I started taking AP drawing and painting classes, where I was guided by Mrs. Munson and inspired to pursue a career in the arts. Although I faced challenges that initially led me to online classes, I eventually found my way to the Didomizio Art Center, where I focused on traditional Fine Art. In addition to my formal education, I gained practical experience in the art world by providing face painting and henna art services, under the guidance of my aunt who is a seasoned professional in the industry. This hands-on experience, combined with my formal training, has helped me refine my skills and develop my own unique artistic style.
To continue growing as an artist, I have sought out additional training through the New Masters Academy, where I am expanding my knowledge and expertise in the field of fine art. Through my dedication and passion for art, I have established myself as a talented and versatile artist, and I am excited for what the future holds for me in the art world. I’m continually growing grateful for every step I take in this passionate journey

My In my mural and canvas style, I focus on combining vivid colors and lighting with a surrealistic approach to create captivating and emotionally charged paintings. I strive to illustrate strong emotions in my work in order to compel the viewer's interest and create a deep connection with the piece. One of the key elements of my style is the use of vibrant colors and dramatic lighting to evoke a sense of intensity and energy in my artwork. By playing with light and shadow, I am able to create a dynamic and visually striking composition that draws the viewer in and captures their attention. I also incorporate a surrealistic approach in my paintings, blending elements of reality with fantastical and dream-like imagery. This allows me to explore themes of the subconscious mind and create a sense of mystery and intrigue in my work. By combining the familiar with the unfamiliar, I aim to challenge the viewer's perceptions and invite them to delve deeper into the meaning behind the piece. Furthermore, I am deeply interested in exploring psychological and cultural symbolism in my art. I often incorporate symbols and motifs that hold personal or universal significance, drawing on themes of identity, memory, and emotion. By infusing my work with these symbolic elements, I aim to create a rich and layered narrative that resonates with viewers on a deeper level. Overall, my mural and canvas style is characterized by a bold use of color, a surrealistic approach to composition, and a focus on conveying powerful emotions and themes. Through my art, I strive to create a visually compelling experience that sparks curiosity and engages the viewer on both an emotional and intellectual level.
In addition to my focus on vivid colors, dramatic lighting, and surrealistic approach in my mural and canvas style, I draw inspiration from nature and my deep connection to the natural world. Working as a trail maintenance worker under The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), I developed a profound appreciation for the beauty and power of nature. This experience has greatly influenced my artistic vision and the themes I explore in my work. My time spent working in nature has instilled in me a sense of awe and respect for the environment, which is reflected in my art through the use of organic forms, natural elements, and earthy tones. I often incorporate imagery inspired by the natural world, such as landscapes, flora, and fauna, to create a sense of harmony and balance in my compositions. By infusing my work with elements of nature, I aim to capture the essence of the natural world and evoke a sense of tranquility, wonder, and interconnectedness with the environment. Through my art, I seek to convey the beauty and resilience of nature, as well as the importance of preserving and protecting our planet. Overall, my connection to nature as a trail maintenance worker under The CCC has deeply influenced my artistic style, inspiring me to incorporate themes of nature, sustainability, and environmental stewardship in my work.
